My MacBook Pro has decided it's very angry with me... and refuses to boot up. So I'm stuck using a very crappy old iBook which is barely holding it together, and doesn't allow me to work with the RAW files from my digital cameras - but at least I'm able to get online.

So - I'm frustrated... and am using my iPhone to capture today's shot.

What will tomorrow bring? We'll see.

New dog.

Old cat.

New dog and old cat meet.

New dog freezes.

Old cat freaks out.

Old cat triples in size... and attacks new dog.

New dog chases old cat.

Human tries to separate new dog and old cat.

Old cat sinks teeth into hand of human... piercing right through from one side to the other.

Human manages to get old cat locked into bedroom.

Old cat is fine.

New dog is fine.

Human has blood squirting from hand.

Human's daughter sees blood, which is forming a small puddle in the bathroom sink.

Daughter starts crying hysterically.

Human thinks "Wow... my blood is VERY red!"... and proceeds to take a photo of the droplets on the paper towel.

All goes back to normal.

Human's hand is bandaged and VERY sore.

Dirty dishes fill the sink.

Cobwebs stretch from the wall to the handle of a cup left on the countertop.

Old photos and sporting event tickets lie scattered here and there.

Windows are shattered.

Darkness fills the basement... and the stairway to the second floor.

And playing cards rest among dirt and debris in just about every room...

... including this Joker card... on the floor of a bedroom which is now open to the elements.

We received a delivery of fresh, organic King Trumpet Mushrooms at work today.

So I had to take the opportunity to make them pose for me.

Then I chopped them up and sautéed them in olive oil with some fresh garlic, capers and olives - for a VERY tasty lunch!

366 Project - Day 38 - "Recovery"

I seem to have over-done it during my workout last night. During the final two reps of my final set on one strength machine, I felt an uncomfortable pull in my left leg. It didn't seem to be a big deal at all... even as I continued on other machines. Then I hit the treadmill... and about 10 minutes in to my routine it started to act-up. I had to decrease the incline to zero... and decrease the speed several points, in order to find a comfortable pace. Afterwards I felt sore... but not bad. I rested... and all seemed to be OK.

Until this morning... when I tried to get up out of bed, and things just felt wrong.

So - it was a day of rest for me. Rest and hot showers and painkillers... and thankfully it all seems to have helped, and I'm feeling pretty good again.

(Oh... and don't worry... I didn't take nearly as many pills as I have in my hand in this photo!)

This is the same model of camera Patti Smith has been using for years... and, just this past weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing her exhibit "Camera Solo" at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford.

366 Project - Day 36 - "A.S. ROMA"

February 05, 2012 - "A.S. ROMA"

An absolutely HUGE day for sports... in our house.

Yes... it's Super Bowl Sunday... and we'll be cheering on the New York Giants for that one. But that's just "American Football"... and, in all honesty - I was far more excited about the "Real Football" games that have happened today.

Manchester United took on Chelsea in the Barclay's Premier League...

A.C. Milan took on Napoli in the Italian Serie A...

and... most important of all (to me, anyway) - my favorite team in all of sports - A.S. Roma - took on my least favorite team - Inter Milan...

... and Roma DESTROYED Inter... with a final score of 4-0!!!

It has been an amazing day of sports... and the Super Bowl hasn't even started yet!

... you'll have to excuse me though, I've got to go scream at the TV for a couple of hours!

And to celebrate, here's a pic of my current stash of this wonderful "crema da spalmare alle nocciole"!

We go through a TON of this stuff in our house (about one big jar every week or two).

The big jar on the left is the "American" variety. The smaller jars are my private stash, imported directly from Italy. And "yes", there IS a difference! The quality of ingredients in the Italian one is far superior... the taste is richer and more "hazelnutty"... and the texture is completely different. Plus you can re-use the Italian jars as milk/juice glasses.

This stuff is pure Italian goodness in a jar!

Today I'm in Hartford at the Wadsworth Atheneum to see "Camera Solo", an exhibit of Polaroid photographs by Patti Smith.

The exhibit was absolutely wonderful...

... and as an added bonus, in the gallery leading up to the Patti Smith exhibit, several photos by and of my photographic idol - Robert Mapplethorpe... including this huge black on red portrait of him by Andy Warhol.

As I stood, looking up at one of my idols, I noticed my own reflection in the glass.

Frame. Focus. Snap. Capture. Smile.
